A Comparative Research of Eight Principle Pattern Identification - based on Zhang Jie-Bin, Cheng Guo-Peng, and Jiang Han-Tun -
Kim Jin-Ho

Abstract
Objective : Syndrome differentiation(Ü©ñû) has clinical importance in East Asian Traditional Medicine. There are several ways for Syndrome differentiation. However, Eight Principle Pattern Identification(ø¢ËµÜ©ñû) is the base of other Syndrome differentiations. Of the physicians focused on Eight Principle Patterns(ø¢Ëµ), I have researched for Eight Principle Pattern Identification concerning with Zhang Jie-Bin(íåË¿Þ¹), Cheng Guo-Peng(ïïÏÐø°), and Jiang Han-Tun(Ë°ùäÔÆ) in Ming(Ù¥) and Qing(ôè.)

Method : Applying to Eight Principle Pattern Identification, I have researched comparatively for 3 kinds for. First, Zhang Jie-Bin`s Jingyuequanshu(ÌØä¿îïßö) that involves Yinyangpian(ëäåÕø¹), Liubianbian(ë»Ü¨Ü©), Biaozhengpian(øúñûø¹), Lizhengpian(×êñûø¹), Xushipian(úÈãùø¹), and Hanrepian(ùÎæðø¹), secondly, Cheng Guo-Peng`s Yixuexinwu(ì¢ùÊãýçö) Hanrexushibiaoliyinyangbian(ùÎæðúÈãùøú×êëäåÕÜ©), at lastly Jiang Han-Tun`s Bihuayijing(ù¶ü£ì¢Ìð) Biaolixushihanreyinyangbian(øú×êúÈãùùÎæðÜ©).

Results : All of sick cases can be explained totally by Eight Principle Patterns. Of Eight Principle Patterns, Yin(ëä) and Yang(åÕ) include last Six Principle Patterns(ë»Ëµ : øú×ê, ùÎæð, úÈãù). Six Principle Patterns can be divided normally by 6 pulses(ë»Øæ : Ý©öØ òÀÞü úÈãù). In all of pain cases, feeling comfortable(ʦäÎ) or discomfortable(ËÞäÎ) to palpation can be important foundation for distinguishing Xu(úÈ) from Shi(ãù). Physical constitution(ô÷òõ) for Hanre Xushi(ùÎæð úÈãù) and tongue-diagnosis(àßòà) for Biaoli Hanre(øú×ê ùÎæð) are used effectively. Related with tongue-diagnosis, tongue-coating(àß÷Ä) for Biaoli and tongue status(àßòõ) for Hanre are used effectively. Symptoms should be divided following this sequence, Biaoli Hanre Xushi and lastly should be summarized of Yinyang.

Conclusion : Diagnosing with Eight Principle Patterns, digestive function, urine, and feces should be checked at first. In addition, the pulse, tongue, physical constitution, and good or bad from palpation(õºòà), these should be checked and give a result. And then the result can be an important evidence of syndrome differentiation. As a result, it would be the best to diagnosis that discriminating the sequence as Biaoli Hanre Xushi and summarizing with Yinyang.
